Objectives

In this course, students develop the skills to understand and analyze the technical solutions of distributed and renewable electricity production and their impacts on the power system.

Upon completing the course, students will be able to:
• Describe the key distributed and renewable electricity production technologies
• Understand their technical, economic, and environmental impacts
• Model and analyze the effects of distributed energy production on the power grid
• Apply their knowledge in practical projects

Content

The course covers technologies for distributed and renewable electricity production, such as solar, wind and hydroenergy, and examines their grid requirements and integration into the power grid. Additionally, the course addresses economic and regulatory issues, and explores practical applications and case studies. The course also introduces grid stability and the importance of energy storage and smart grids from the perspective of distributed electricity production.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student recognizes the key technologies for distributed and renewable electricity production, but their understanding of the impacts on the power grid and energy system is limited. The completion of tasks and exercises is incomplete, and the analyses remain superficial.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

The student masters the technologies for distributed and renewable electricity production and their basic impacts on the power grid. They can perform analyses and apply the learned knowledge in practical tasks, but deeper understanding and critical examination may be lacking.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student has deep expertise in distributed and renewable electricity production technologies and their impacts on the power grid and energy system. They are capable of independently analyzing and evaluating the operation of these systems, and applying their knowledge creatively and critically to practical problem-solving.
