Students
- understand the individual implications of changes caused by internal diseases in the life situation of patients and their families and work in cooperation with patients and their families according to ethical principles
- can plan, implement and evaluate nursing of patients with internal diseases and act responsibly as the patient's primary nurse
- are able to support patients and their families in maintenance of health and in self-care
- can manage the most essential nursing methods of patients with internal diseases
- can manage the guidance, implementation and monitoring of the pharmacological treatment of patients with internal diseases
- can secure the continuity of the care of patients by adequate written and oral documentation
- take part in multi-professional cooperation in holistic care of patients with internal diseases and work responsibly informing others of what they do and following agreements
- can critically evaluate their own professional skills
- have basic knowledge of the most common internal diseases
Course contents:
- special features of nursing patients with internal diseases
- the most important internal diseases and their effects on the life and wellbeing of adult patients
- the most important clinical examinations of patients with internal diseases and radiation safety
- nursing methods in treatment of patients with internal diseases
- guidance, implementation and monitoring of pharmacotherapy for patients with internal diseases
- nutrition and rehabilitation as part of holistic care of patients with internal diseases
- the most important internal diseases
Teaching methods
Lectures, tutorials, assignments, orientation to clinical training, supervised clinical training, independent study and guidance, virtual study
Assessment methods
Examinations, assignments, evaluation given by the teacher and supervisor, self-evaluation, peer review, skills test
Prerequisites
First-year studies,
Before entering the second year studies 50 credits of first year studies should be completed. These 50 credits should include 3 credits of pharmacology treatment and medical calculation.
