Objective of course
The student
-has professional approach towards the elderly and their relatives
-is able to support and promote the holistic functional ability and wellbeing of the elderly
-is aware of the meaning of social discussion concerning nursing of the elderly
-learns to evaluate coping at home and knows the independent living possibilities given by the service systems for senior citizens
-knows the most common geriatric diseases
-can implement pharmacological treatment for the elderly
-can implement rehabilitative nursing in home care
-knows the special features and methods of home nursing
-understands the meaning of work with the elderly in mapping their need for services
-learns to use care and service plans in implementation of nursing
-can implement home care according to the client´s needs

-basic values and knowledge of geriatric nursing
-promotion of health and functioning ability
-wellbeing services of senior citizens
-geriatric diseases
-memory impairment
-pharmacological treatment of the elderly
-teaching and counselling of the elderly
-rehabilitative nursing
