Objectives

The students learn the goals, operating principles and studying environment of Tampere Polytechnic and the Degree Programme of Art.

Content

The course consists of the following parts: Organisation and services of Tampere Polytechnic, study guide of the Degree Programme of Art, occupational safety, digital and other learning environments. In the part of occupational safety, the students learn the importance of physical and psychological occupational safety, foreseeing dangerous situations and working in a way which promotes occupational safety. Fire safety, emergency first aid, electric safety, work ergonomics, vehicle control and occupational safety of a sculptor. In the digital learning environments part, the students learn about the systems, services and software available. Word processing, basics of digital image processing, schools net services and e-mail, information retrieval from intra and Internet and checking out the transcript of records in the Internet. The course also contains seminars on practical training, project learning and international student exchange.
