Objectives
The students implement a project where they create a control system for a process using programmable logics. The students create an operations description of the process controls using the client’s request. The students then create a logistics chart of the controls. The students study the following aspects of programmable logics: usage and testing, diagnose and debugging, parameters, basic operations, locking operations, memory operations, download and transfer, time operations, calculation operations, comparison operations, arithmetic operations, unit operations, handling analogue values, controllers, attaching logics into a bus. The students implement the controls of the logistics chart by using programmable logics. The students create demo and test it. The programmable logics are attached to the controlled process or its simulation model. The students carry out the commissioning tests.
Content
28 h classroom education, 2 h exam. The classroom education is divided: project description and parametre lists 4 h, logistics chart and programming 8 h, simulations and testing 8 h, handling analogue values and testing the controller 8 h, exam 2 h.
Further information
The course is implemented using problem based leasrning. The students implement a project and the project is carried out in laboratory environment so that the lectures and laboratory work form a complete unit. The course uses Moodle learning environment. The students do learning tasks in Moodle.
