Objectives
The students recognise the basic concepts of digital transmissions. They can form a general overview on digital data communication systems, know how to describe transmitter and receiver structures and their tasks. The students recognise modulation methods and are able to explain the differences between analogue and digital data transmission. The students are able to explain the communication principles of devices connected to a network.
Content
Characteristics of digital signals, cable coding, digital modulation methods. The most common digital local area networks, characteristics, physical structures, bus reservation methods, framework of data transmission. Data transmission methods in automation buses, physical structures, characteristics. Cabling, interference shielding.
