Osaamistavoitteet
This course introduces and provides its students with hands-on experience of applying several selected Strategic Management Accounting theories and frameworks to practice. Case-based approach is applied all through the course.
After completing the course, the students will be able to:
Realize the current performance status and development potential of a business control function case by case.
Apply the basic strategic management accounting frameworks – like the Performance Pyramid, the Performance Prism, The Balanced Scorecard and/or The Economic Value Added (EVA®) – into practice.
Identify situations in which there is potential to utilize the BI approach to benefit the company and its strategy execution.
Collect, analyze, and efficiently report and communicate relevant information for decision making, using frameworks and supporting tools such as PEST, SWOT, Porter’s Five Forces, Risk Chart, Competitor Analysis and Stakeholder Analysis.
Analyze and evaluate the benefits and costs of using ERP in business control duties as well as in the further development of business processes and reporting of the whole company.
Consider and analyze the risks and opportunities of starting to use formal business control practices over the company borders, in company networks.
Use the English language in a professional manner in the fields of Strategic Management Accounting and business control.
