Objective of course
Students have accrued knowledge and skills through research on teaching. They understand scientific information as part of their professional skills and have a positive attitude to research; they have the ability to read studies and understand the findings of research. Students are informed on the ethical demands on research and take these into account. They summarise their earlier learning process into a development report. They understand the ethical questions concerning teaching and are able to assess the development of their own education philosophy during their studies.

Course contents
- introduction to research-oriented working method, foundations of research
- introduction to philosophical thinking
- ethics of the teacher
- special learning needs and the challenges of a multi-cultures environment
- equality and unrestrictedness of learning

Teaching methods
Contact teaching, individual and group assignments, written assignments, independent work and possible excursions, lectures, discussion and demonstrations.

Assessment methods
Self-evaluation, peer review and assessment by teacher. Participation, portfolios.

Itse-ja vertaisarviointi sekä opettajan arviointi arvosanalla hyväksytty/hylätty
Osallistujamerkinnät, työskentely lähijaksoilla (7 kertaa), työskentely Tabulassa ja ennakkotehtävien/muiden sovittujen oppimistehtävien tekeminen.

Lähiopetus, yksilö- ja ryhmätyöt, kirjalliset tehtävät ja mahdolliset tutustumiskäynnit, itsenäinen työskentely, luennot, keskustelut ja demonstraatiot

Pedagogiikkaa käsittelevä kirjallisuus sekä opintojakson tavoitteita tukeva kirjallisuus ja tutkimusartikkelit

Student workload

Opintojakso sisältää sekä yhteisen että itsenäisen työskentelyn (3 op)

Content scheduling

Seitsemän lähiopetuskertaa (à 4x45 min) syyskuun 2014 ja tammikuun 2015 aikana. Muutoin itsenäistä työskentelyä hyödyntäen teoreettista tietoa sekä omista opetustunneista/havainnoinneista ja niiden reflektoinneista saatavaa kokemuksellista tietoa

Työelämän toiminta- ja oppimisympäristöissä saadut kokemukset voivat toimia virikkeinä sisältöjen suuntaamisessa. Aitojen työelämäongelmien pohtiminen ja ratkaisujen etsiminen lähijaksoilla. Näin opintojaksolla on kiinteä yhteys opintojaksoon Ohjattu havainnointi ja portfolio 4.
