Objectives (course unit)

Students can design and create 3D environments for games with sculpting. They can identify the used tools, techniques and pipelines. They have ability to create modular models with procedural textures. Students can plan and create low resolution models with baking. They can also demonstrate understanding of render methods and use of different textures on models. They can create lighting and can manage post processing in a game engine. They apply learned skills for starting to build a portfolio.

Content (course unit)

Basic concepts of creating 3D environments and assets for games. Sculpting 3D models and pipelines for baking and exporting to games. Basics of retopology and used tools. Creating and using procedural textures on models. Designing and creating game ready modular structures and small assets. Portfolio building.

Prerequisites (course unit)

None

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

The student can describe tools for sculpting, lighting and texturing.
The student can describe procedural texturing and how to utilize it.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

The student can design and sculpt low poly assets with baking.
The student can create procedural textures and use them in models.
The student can design and create modular environments for games.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)
