Objectives (course unit)
The aim of the course is to develop the basic skills of nursing for children and young people and nursing for the disabled.
After completing the course, the student
• Knows the stages of growth and development of children and young people and the roles of parents in different stages of development.
• Knows the principles of nursing care for children and the disabled and knows how to act in accordance with ethical principles.
• Identifys the special features of professional interaction in the nursing work of children of different ages, young people and the disabled.
• Is able to assess the need for care, plan and implement the care of the child and the family, and give guidance using evidence-based information and genomic information.
• Is able to apply their knowledge of the most common diseases of children and young people and understands the meaning of multidisciplinary team work in nursing.
• Knows the most important measures and methods used in the nursing care of children and young people.
• Knows the special features of nursing care for the disabled and understand the importance of functional support and rehabilitation in the life of a disabled person and their family.

• The growth, development, upbringing and daily care of the child and young person
• Parental support, risk factors related to child and family well-being
• The most important nursing principles and the fundamental rights of the child, young person and the disabled
• Assessment of the need for the care for child's, young person and family's and the treatment process
• Interaction, play and communication methods with children, young people, disabled people and families in different nursing situations
• The most common diseases in children and causes of disability
• The most common examinations and treatment procedures for a sick child
• The basics of pharmacotherapy and fluid therapy for children
• Ethics in nursing care for children and the disabled
• The importance of genetic information in child and family care
Prerequisites (course unit)
30 ects of first year studies completed, including Pharmacotherapy and Medical Calculations. Participation in course Intravenous Fluid Therapy and Clinical Laboratory Tests.

• Recognizes the basic rights of children and people with disabilities.
• Identifys the need for family support and guidance in the upbringing of children and young people and in healthy lifestyles and related risk factors.
• Recognizes the importance of ethical and childcare principles in nursing care.
• Identifys the nursing care process and identifys the importance of evidence-based information in nursing care of children and families.
• Identifys one's own interaction skills and in the nursing of children, young people and the disabled.
• Identifys the most common diseases of children and young people and understands the importance of multidisciplinary teamwork in nursing care.
• Recognizes medical emergencies and is able to act in a guided manner.
• Performs medical calculations flawlessly and identifies the basics of pharmacotherapy and fluid therapy for children.
• Identifys the most common measures and methods used in nursing work for children and young people.
• Recognizes the special features of nursing care for the disabled and understands the importance of functional support and rehabilitation in the life of a disabled person and their family.

Exam schedules
Osan 1 (Lasten ja nuorten hoitotyö 3 op) ja osan 3 (Lääkelasku) yhteinen tentti on examissa vk 15-17
1. uusinta viikko 21-22 Examissa.
2. uusinta viikkoa 32-34 Examissa.
Tentti on hylätty, mikäli tenttivastauksen perusteella potilasturvallisuus vaarantuu oleellisesti, esim. lapsi menehtyisi väärän lääkityksen tai ohjeistuksen myötä.
Korotuskoe viikko 34 Examissa. Jos haluat osallistua korotuskokeeseen, ota yhteys vk 33 loppuun mennessä opintojakson vastuuopettajaan sähköpostitse. HUOM! Korotuskokeeseen sisältyy kaikki opintojakson osat 1-5 eli vain yhtä opintojakson osaa ei voi korottaa.
Lisäksi toteutukseen kuuluu kaksi välitenttiä, jotka tulee olla suoritettuna ennen varsinaista tenttiä. Ravitsemuksen Moodletentti tehdään lukujärjestykseen merkityllä ravitsemuksen oppitunnilla ja Lapsen kasvu ja kehitys -tentti tehdään itsenäisesti 3.4.2025 mennessä. Tentin voi uusi kaksi kertaa kyseisenä aikana, mikäli se ei ensimmäisellä kerralla ole läpi (läpipääsyn raja 15/ 20 pistettä).

-Numeerisesti arvioitava (0-5) tentti examissa, välitentit suoritettava hyväksytysti ennen examtenttiä.
Osa 2 Vammaisten hoitotyö
-Hyväksytty/ hylätty. Hyväksytyt verkkotestit Equal treatment-verkkokurssilla.
Osa 3 Lääkelasku
-Hyväksytty/hylätty. Hyväksytyn suorituksen edellytyksenä lääkelaskun suorittaminen hyväksytysti examtentissä.
Osa 4 Orientoiva harjoittelu
-Hyväksytty / hylätty. 100% osallistuminen tunneille, aktiivinen osallistuminen opetukseen, perehtyminen ennakkomateriaaliin ja ennakkotehtävän tekeminen.
Osa 5 Orientoiva harjoittelu, simulaatiot
-Hyväksytty/hylätty. 100% osallistuminen tunneille, aktiivinen osallistuminen opetukseen.

3.Hoitosuositukset: Perheessä tapahtuvan lapsen kaltoinkohtelun riskiolojen tunnistaminen - ja Leikki-ikäisen emotionaalinen tuki päiväkirurgisessa hoitotyössä -hoitosuositus.
4. Käypähoito -suositukset: Atooppinen ekseema, Alahengitystieinfektiot (lapset), Virtsatieinfektiot, Elvytys (lasten elvytys): soveltuvin osin
5.Luennoitsijan erikseen nimeämä materiaali
Student workload
Lasten ja nuorten hoitotyö 4op: kokonaistuntimäärä 108 h sisältää osallistumisen opetukseen ja itsenäisen opiskelun. Läsnäolovelvollisuus on orientaatiotunnilla, lääke- ja nestehoitotunneilla sekä Taitokeskuksessa toteutettavilla taitopaja ja simulaatiotunneilla.
Vammaisen hoitotyö 1 op: kokonaistuntimäärä on 27 h. Suoritetaan Equal treatment-verkkokurssilla.

Toteutussuunnitelmaa päivitetään tarvittaessa orientaatiotunnin jälkeen.
Orientaatiotunnilla on läsnäolovelvollisuus. Läsnäolo varmistaa pääsyn opintojaksolle. Läsnäoloa orientaatiossa edellytetään, vaikka olisi suorittanut jo aiemmin osan toteutuksesta.
Opetukseen valmistaudutaan perehtymällä annettuihin materiaaleihin niin pyydettäessä.
