Objectives (course unit)
The aim of the course is to provide skills for planning and implementing therapeutic exercises.
On completion of the course, the student will
• can define and know the basics of health fitness, health exercise and therapeutic exercise
• be able to measure physical fitness and, on the basis of the results, draw up an exercise programme
• know how to use different methods of therapeutic exercise to promote individual health
• be able to assess and analyse the effects of therapeutic exercise
• have a basic knowledge of healthy nutrition
• know the role of the urinary and excretory systems in the functioning of the whole body
• can search for scientific information in a wide range of fields and can critically evaluate research reports from different scientific databases
• can use evidence-based knowledge in the study of the fundamentals of the profession
Content (course unit)
• planning, methods and implementation of therapeutic exercise
• principles, planning and implementation of muscular strength and mobility training
• measurements of health and physical activity and their implementation
• basics of research work
• urinary and faecal excretion
Assessment criteria, pass/fail (course unit)
Approved, student
• can define key concepts related to health-related physical activity
• articulate the phenomena and relationships between concepts related to health-related physical activity and therapeutic exercise
• be able to select therapeutic exercise methods and assess their suitability for promoting individual health
• measure the client's physical condition on his/her own, draw up an individual exercise programme on the basis of the results of the measurements and return it as agreed.
• returns written assignments as agreed, demonstrating a basic knowledge of healthy nutrition and the principles of research.
• returns a lecture notes booklet summarising and structuring the theoretical knowledge in accordance with the objectives of the course within the time allowed and in accordance with the instructions given
• is able to obtain researched information from different sources related to the study and is able to use this information critically to support learning
• actively participate in group discussions, being able to receive and give constructive feedback
• pass the urinary and excretory system test
