Tieteellinen kirjoittaminen (5cr)

Objectives (course unit)

In this course, students practice fundamental skills related to reading and producing scientific texts, information retrieval, and creating their own scientific writing.

Upon completing the course, students will be able to:
• Expand their knowledge base through systematic information retrieval
• Critically search for and evaluate information, using it purposefully
• Compose a written research paper using a research-oriented approach
• Orally present the overall content and key points of their research paper, utilizing visual aids

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

Student
• can describe phenomena related to goals, theory, and define fundamental concepts
• has not justified choices, solutions, or theoretical perspectives thoroughly; theoretical reasoning is straightforward

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

Student
• can apply theory and concepts, and organize information in relation to each other
• can narrow down problems and tasks, as well as justify solutions and choices
• can evaluate matters and examine them from different perspectives

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

Student
• can analyze information and actions, connecting them to a professional context
• can find improvement opportunities and justify various approaches and alternative solutions
• can creatively devise new solutions or combine existing ones

Ei tenttiä. Jos opiskelija ei saa palautettua kirjoitelmaansa 20.2 TAI 6.3.2026 mennessä, hänen tulee ilmoittautua uudelleen seuraavan kevään toteutukselle.

Oman aihepiirin mukainen lähdekirjallisuus (minimi 4-5 lähdettä)

Student workload

Opetusta noin 20 tuntia ja itsenäistä työskentelyä noin 115 tuntia.

Opintojakson arvosana määrittyy kirjoitelmasta saadun arvosana mukaan (0-5). Äidinkielen opettaja arvioi kieliasun ja sosionomikoulutuksen opettaja sisällön. Lopullinen arvosana muodostuu näiden kahden numeron keskiarvosta. Erityisen ansiokas suullinen esitys voi korottaa arvosanaa, ja vastaavasti huonosti valmisteltu esitys voi laskea arvosanaa.
