Objectives (course unit)

Students can design a BIM model of a one-family houses of architectonically high quality taking into consideration the environment and legislation as well as local regulations. Students can produce designs for one-family houses.

After completing the course, students know regulations and guidelines concerning one-family houses. Students can select appropriate construction materials and structures for one-family houses and take into consideration the space reservation for building services.

Students learn housing and building design, sizing and furnishing, as well as housing design legislation and local regulations.

Students can design according to room schedule a small scale public building in a design team. They can design using building information model application.

Architecture and history of residential and small scale buildings
Construction laws, decrees and regulations
Design drawings.
HPAC and energy solutions as regards architectural design

Assessment methods and criteria

Activity during the course. Compulsory 80 % attendance in teaching sessions. Mid- or final critic seminars compulsary. If student is not able to be present he must prove a very important reason for absence.
Self evaluation, teacher's oral evalution ja peer review in critic seminars.
Grade 0 - 5 according to student's skills. Delayed submission or missing mid submissions will lower the grade.

Prerequisite: courses Basics of Architecture, Basics of Design Work, Design Project 1 and Area Design Project or adequete skills according to teachers estimation

Student cannot figure the main ideas of design work or apply the design knowledge to practice. The entity shows that he has not really entered the course information at all.

Student has lot of absences. Poor activity during lessons.
Student has difficulties in figuring the main ideas of design work and applying the design knowledge to practice. Submissions show the poor design knowledge and lack of earlier learned issues.

Student has only few absences. He has been active and constructive during lessons. Working with assignments goes on consictently. Students figures the main ideas of design work and is able to apply learned issues to practice. He can explain the choices made in a professional way.
