Objectives (course unit)

Students
-are aware of the episodes of the crisis and the process of coping
-are aware of the process of radiotherapy from the patient’s point of view
-know the most common side-effects of radiotherapy, how to prevent and treat them
-know the principles of pain management
-know the follow-up of cancer patients and methods of comprehensive rehabilitation
-know how to meet seriously ill and dying patients and their relatives
-are aware of the nutrition of cancer patients
-know the Finnish Social Security System related to cancer patients

-patients with cancer and their process of coping
-patient's care path in radiotherapy
-meeting with seriously ill and dying patients and their relatives
-side-effects of radiotherapy, prevention and care
-pain and pain management in cancer
-cancer patient's follow-up and rehabilitation
-nutrition of cancer patients
-social security system of cancer patients

Prerequisites (course unit)

-adequate knowledge of Radiotherapy Equipment and Radiation Protection in Radiotherapy
-adequate knowledge of Planning of Radiotherapy
