Nursing Science in Past and Now (3cr)

Objectives (course unit)

The student
- knows what science and nursing science are;
- is aware of the meaning of other sciences for nursing science and nursing practice;
- knows the historical bases behind the current state of the field;
- understands the meaning of nursing science in nursing practice and social decision-making;
- knows the basics of scientific argumentation and evidence-based thinking.

Content (course unit)

- science, nursing science and its relationship to other sciences;
- the historical development of nursing science
- recent nursing research as a basis for nursing practice and science
- using nursing science in decision-making in social and health care in society
- basis for scientific argumentation and evidence-based practice

Teaching methods

Toteutussuunnitelma täydentyy alkuvuodesta 2019.
Opetusmenetelminä ovat keskusteluluennot, ryhmässä tehtävä esitys, josta jokainen ryhmä pitää seminaariesityksen. Seminaari pidetään 28.5 klo 8.30-11.45. Läsnäolo on pakollinen orientaatiossa, seminaarissa.
Kurssilla keskustellaan ja vertaisarvioidaan myös Tabula - alustaa hyödyntämällä toisten kurssilaisten tuotoksia.
Lisäksi jokainen tekee tabulatehtävät ajallaan.

- tiede, hoitotiede ja suhde muihin tieteisiin
- hoitotieteen historiallinen kehitys
- viimeaikaiset hoitotieteelliset tutkimukset tieteen ja hoitotyön käytännön kehittämisen perustana
- hoitotieteen tuottaman tiedon hyödyntäminen sosiaali- ja terveydenhuollon yhteiskunnallisessa päätöksenteossa
- tieteellisen argumentoinnin perusteet ja näyttöön perustuvan ajattelun lähtökohdat
