Objectives (course unit)
The student
- knows how to support the growth and development of both healthy and sick children;
- knows how to support and guide families in parenthood;
- is able to recognize the risk factors related to parenthood, upbringing and healthy lifestyles
- is able, under supervision, as a member of a multidisciplinary team and in collaboration with the child and family, to assess the need for care, plan, implement and evaluate the paediatric care, by using evidence-based nursing;
- knows the most common children's diseases
Content (course unit)
- growth, development and fostering of a healthy child
- support for parenthood, risk factors related to children, and families’ wellbeing
- recognition of child abuse and early interventions
- children’s rights
- principles of paediatric nursing
- impact of a child’s disease on the child and family
- interaction, communication, guidance and play with the child/family in various situations of paediatric care
-paediatric and family nursing care and the most common paediatric diseases
-basics of nursing care for children with special needs
-the most common investigations and procedures of paediatric patients, as well as patient education and guidance related to them
-basics of paediatric medication management and IV fluid therapy and the principles of pain management for paediatric patients at different ages
-paediatric terminal care, death
- special issues in children's nutrition

Exam on Paediatrics 18-23 September, retakes (I) 26- 30 Sept (II)2-7 Oct. All in Tenttiterraario (in Library)
Exam on Nursing and Nursing calculations 10 Octobre at 16.15. Retake week 42 in Tenttiterraario.
