Objectives (course unit)
Students:
- position their instruction duties in the unity of the curriculum
- make connections between the work as a music pedagogue and the sociological and cultural empowerment duties
- describe the needs of the society and working life and consider them in the work as a music pedagogue in various societies
- recognize persons in danger of falling in isolation and contribute to equality
- makes a rough scketch for a wellbeing plan at an school institute

Core questions to be answered
- what is national empowerment and what role does a music pedagogue have in it?
- how do values guide the actions of people and societies?
- what is the purpose and meaning of a curriculum in teacher´s work?
- what is a hidden curriculum and how does it guide teacher´s work?
- what does it mean that a teacher is a representant of the educational values?
- what is the societal duties of education?
- how can a music pedagogue and a community of teachers support pupils´commitment with the studies and playing as a hobby?

Assessment methods and criteria
Itse-, vertais- ja opettajan arviointi. Painotetaan osallistavaa, dialogista arviointia.
TAMKin opettajankoulutuksen Opetussuunnitelman 2015 arviointitaulukkoa soveltuvin osin. Arviointi perustuu opettajan ydinosaamisiin: arviointiosaaminen, kulttuuriosaaminen, ohjaamisosaaminen, kumppanuusosaaminen, hyvinvointosaaminen.

Student workload
Opintojakson laajuus on 5 op eli noin 135 tuntia opiskelijan työtä. Lähiopetusta on 36 tuntia, itsenäisen ja pienryhmätyöskentelyn osuus noin 100 tuntia.
