Objectives

In this course, the student will learn how to manage information purposefully and how refining data supports decision-making within organizations. The student will explore the strategic use of data and gain an understanding of why ethics is a crucial component of data-driven business.

After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- Understand the requirements for high-quality data
- Identify challenges related to data utilization in business
- Recognize the different stages of the data refinement process
- Understand the significance and components of a corporate data strategy
- Acknowledge the ethical considerations specific to data-driven business.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student is able to identify the characteristics of high-quality data and name the stages of the data refinement process. The student successfully completes assigned tasks and can recognize practices and ethical requirements typical of the field. The student is also able to assess their own performance from a personal perspective and describe the consequences of their actions.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

The student is able to structure the characteristics of high-quality data and explain the stages of the data refinement process as well as their significance in the economy. The student can select appropriate practices for the field and justify their choices, taking into account the ethical considerations specific to the domain. The student is also able to evaluate their own performance and assess the consequences of their actions.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to analyze the characteristics of high-quality data, the data refinement process, and their significance in the economy. The student is capable of exploring and experimenting with new approaches, and of justifying and evaluating their choices while taking into account the ethical considerations specific to the field. The student is also able to assess their own performance and both evaluate and anticipate the consequences of their actions.
