Objectives
Upon successful completion of the course unit, the student will recognize different creative text genres such as literary, audio-visual and marketing texts. They will be able to interpret texts in a professional manner and assess the ways the communication environment influences the work of translating creative text genres. The student will understand the special characteristics of multimodal texts and the requirements they bring to the translation process.
Content
The course unit explores the various areas, contexts, and practices of translation in the context of the creative industries and reflects on how images, words and sound interplay in translation. The course touches topics ranging from practical to theoretical in the field of translation studies, covering areas such as multimodality, transcreation and intersemiotic translation.
