Objectives
The student will be able to describe the importance of concept analysis and terminology work for the translator and interpreter. They will be able to use the main term banks and other terminological resources, have a thorough understanding of the principles and methods of terminology work in the specialised fields of translation, and will be able to apply them in creating a limited bilingual glossary for specialised fields. The student will be able to work efficiently as a part of a group and use the computer tools necessary for terminology work.
Content
This course comprises studies in the main principles of terminology and vocabulary work; the creation of a limited systematic specialised glossary in a group; an introduction to corpus tools, a programme for drawing concept-relation diagrams, and a programme for terminology management; and an introduction to term banks and other central terminological resources.
