Objectives

The course gives the essential knowledge of traction drive components and systems which are used in mobile machinery such as excavators, wheel loaders, forest machines etc. The course focuses also on the actuators and systems used to power the work functions of these machines.After completing the course studentis familiar with different types of mobile machinesknows requirements and features specific to mobile machinescan read, understand and create hydraulic circuit diagramsknows different machine architectures such as Diesel-hydraulic, Diesel-electric and battery-electric machinesknows the components of hydrostatic transmissionscan design hydrostatic transmission for mobile machineknows basic mathematical models of hydrostatic transmissions and can apply themknows the components of electric traction drivecan design electric traction drive for mobile machineknows hydraulic systems related to work functions of mobile machines such as cranes etc.knows how open center, closed center and LS-system works and can select components for such a systemcan simulate work functions in MATLAB/Simulinkknows the working principle of electrohydrostatic and electromechanical actuators, their features and limitationsknows different steering systems for mobile machines and their components
