Objectives

• evaluate, support and guide children’s health, growth and development and families’ healthy and safe ways of life taking advantage of their own resources
• recognise special needs of children and families and interfere in time
• master most common children’s illnesses and guide parents in taking care of their sick children
• know deviations of growth and development among children, and know how to consult and refer the child and family to follow-up tests and treatment on demand
• recognise how it affects the whole family if one of the family members falls ill
• evaluate and support family relationships, parenthood, growing as a mother and father, and upbringing of children in various family forms
• work with a client-oriented and multiprofessional approach, especially together with the social sector, supporting families’ wellbeing and communal behaviour and preventing social exclusion
