Objectives
After completing the study unit, the student is able to
- act in an ethically sustainable manner and based on the ethical principles of guidance counsellors
- follow the principles of good counselling
- identify their values and ideas of people and information behind their work
- assess their own values and their effect on the implementation of counselling based on the ethical principles
- build a base for their own counselling philosophy.
Content
During the study unit, we will seek to answer the following questions:
- What are the principles of good counselling?
- What are the values of counselling and what are they based on?
- What are the basic principles of acting as a counsellor?
Assessment criteria, pass/fail
The student passes the study unit if they have demonstrated competencies described in the learning outcomes. If the student has not achieved the learning outcomes or supplemented their competencies in the manner agreed on, they will fail the study unit. The grounds for the assessment criteria are described in the document ‘Pedagogical principles in Professional guidance counsellor education’. The assessment criteria are derived from the learning outcomes presented in the implementation plan for the study unit.
