Description
Degree: Registered Nurse (Master’s degree), Public Health Nurse (Master’s degree), Midwife (Master’s degree), Emergency Nurse (Master’s degree), Bioanalyst (Master’s degree), Radiographer (Master’s degree), Physiotherapist (Master’s degree), Social Services (Master’s degree)
Credits and duration: 90 ects, 1,5 - 2 years
EDUCATIONAL COMPETENCE
This education prepares students for demanding management, development and expert tasks in health care and social services, with an emphasis on multidisciplinary management and development in integrated services, human resource and competence management in the digital age, identifying and solving complex challenges and effective management. The focus of this education is on evidence-based management and development skills.
PROFESSIONAL STATUS
After graduation the students are qualified to apply to vocational teacher's education and those public positions for which a master-level degree is a requirement. The degree is working life oriented and comparable with equivalent degrees in other EU countries (EQF, level 7).
BASIC VALUES OF THE EDUCATION
In Development and Management of Health Care and Social Services education, the student advances the critical, ethical review of his/her field and advances the skills for development and management in health care and social Services
The student bases his/her actions on evidence-based knowledge and takes into account different viewpoints of the action, such as sustainable development.
The student is able to work in his/her profession both independently and in multidisciplinary networking with different actors or as an independent entrepreneur, respecting the skills and knowledge of others.
The student values the continuous development of his/her own activities and field and follows the continuous development of the field nationally and internationally.
THE STRUCTURE OF THE STUDIES
Advanced professional studies 30 cr
Special master’s level studies 15 cr
Optional studies 15 cr
Master’s thesis 30 cr
Total 90 cr
The Degree Programme includes 15 ECTS of Optional Advanced Studies and 15 ECTS of Optional Studies. You can choose these studies according to your own interests and schedule for example from the Mutual Master Courses at TAMK. With optional advanced studies and optional studies, you supplement your skills according to your special professional needs.
ADVANCED PROFESSIONAL STUDIES 2021
At the beginning of the education, the student chooses one of the following paths for advanced professional studies
- Leadership in Social and Health care
- Client-oriented Development in Social and Health Services
IMPLEMENTATION
The programme consists of contact teaching (2-3 days/month) as well as remote and independent work.
Various methods of independent and participatory work are used in the education, such as small group work and e-learning. Each student, together with the teacher tutor, makes a personal learning plan. Teaching metod is multifaceted learning.

Objectives
Graduate
• is able to manage personnel in a participatory and dialogical manner and enables the continuous development of personnel competence
• is able to manage demanding local and remote management situations and act as an expert in social and health decision-making processes
• is able to identify and address risk factors and prevention in the well-being of the work community and act as an expert in the development of well-being at work
• is able to acquire, apply and use critical information to improve the quality, effectiveness and productivity of integrated services
Curriculum development and working life cooperation
The curricula are developed in cooperation with other degree programmes of Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TUAS). In addition, there is joint developmental work and implementation with other universities of applied sciences and national networks.
During the studies, collaboration is made with working life organisations and actors and studies are also carried out in a variety of national and international projects.
The curriculum was considered by the Advisory Board for Health Master's Degree Programmes on 10.2.2021 and approved on 28.5.2021 by the Higher Education Council.
