Objectives
The student:
- understands the importance of interpersonal and presentation skills as part of his/her profession
- is able to analyse his/her own interpersonal and presentation skills
- can observe and evaluate other people´s communication and is able to adapt his/her own communication to different situations
- knows how to communicate in a structured manner and convincingly
- knows how to prepare and give an oral presentation to a large audience with appropriate illustrations
- knows the normal progress of common interpersonal situations (customer service, infos, meetings) and is able to act in these situations responsibly and according to established practices
- knows how to make use of feed back.
- is able to find out the forest owner´s aims and match them with legislation, guidelines and with the aims of the organisation he or she represents
-can advise the forest owner in questions concerning management of forest property
-can help the forest owner to make decisions concerning forest management so that sustainability aspects (social, ecological, economic) are taken into account
- can plan and implement forestry extension events for variable target groups
- is able to write popular texts on forest issues
- can use electronic communication channels and social media in forestry extension
-can argue, explain and defend his/her opinions.
Content
Customer service and info situations in forestry business, levels of interaction, communication styles, non-verbal communication, preparation of oral presentations, visualisation, giving a presentation, theory of meeting and negotiation skills, cultural manners, group dynamics.
Application of legislation and guidelines concerning forestry, planning and realization of extension events and related pedagogic skills, finding out the forest owner's values and aims, personal counselling and related interpersonal communication skills.
