Objectives
The objective of the course is to provide the skills to work independently in maternal and child health clinics.
Upon completing the study module, student will be able to:
• independently implement regular pregnancy monitoring and identify signs of irregular pregnancy, as well as provide guidance for further treatment.
• conduct family-centered maternity care, taking into account different types of families.
• assess the postpartum recovery of the mother and the well-being of the newborn.
• independently carry out monitoring and evaluation of the growth and development of a healthy child.
• identify situations and families where a child's development is at risk of disturbance and can use various communication methods to address these issues.
• guide child and the family to further treatment when needed.
• gain expertise in safe childhood vaccination and related counseling.
• assess family interaction and is trained to support it
• use a variety of healthcare methods and techniques, taking into account the needs of the family.
• provide individualized and resource-based lifestyle and breastfeeding guidance.
• discuss parenthood, relationships, and sexual health.

Superviced clinical training, public health nursing for pregnant and postpartum women and families with a child.
Prerequisites
Participated in the courses Public Health Nursing: Pregnant and Neonatal Family and Public Health Nursing: Child and Family Health Care.
Assessment criteria, pass/fail
Passed:
• The student can demonstrate the ability to implement regular pregnancy monitoring and identify signs of irregular pregnancies. The student can assess the need for further treatment. The student can conduct family-centered maternity care while considering diverse families. The student is proficient in evaluating postpartum recovery and the well-being of newborns. The student is capable of carrying out monitoring and assessment of healthy child growth and development. The student shows aptitude in recognizing situations where a child's development is at risk of disruption. The student can evaluate the need for follow-up care for child health clinic clients. The student can safely administer childhood vaccinations and provide relevant guidance. The student exhibits the capability to observe and evaluate family dynamics. The student is skilled in utilizing a variety of nursing methods and techniques, all while considering the unique needs of the family. Additionally, the student excels in providing individualized and resource-oriented lifestyle and breastfeeding guidance and is adept at discussing parenthood, relationships, and sexual health with families.
Failed:
• The student poorly implements regular pregnancy monitoring. The student fails to recognize signs of irregular pregnancies. The student cannot assess the need for further treatment. The student does not work in a family-centered manner and cannot consider different types of families. The student’s assessment of postpartum recovery and the well-being of newborns is inadequate. The student lacks the ability to implement healthy child growth and development monitoring and assessment effectively. The student fails to recognize situations where a child's development is at risk of disruption. The student cannot assess the need for follow-up care for child health clinic clients. Significant deficiencies exist in vaccination competence and guidance. The student does not observe family dynamics. The student can only use individual nursing methods and techniques sporadically. The student’s implementation of individualized and resource-oriented lifestyle and breastfeeding guidance is subpar. The student does not engage in proactive discussions with families about parenthood, relationships, and sexual health.
