Objectives

In this course, we deepen our understanding of the principles, key phenomena, various operating environments, and adolescent development related to working with young people.

Upon completing the course, the student will:
• Understand the central principles guiding youth work and relevant legislation, and be able to apply them to enable client participation
• Analyze protective and risk factors related to the well-being of young people
• Be familiar with the client work and communication methods required in youth work, and act accordingly in client encounters and multidisciplinary contexts
• Evaluate youth and special youth work as pedagogical activities

• Legislation related to youth and special youth work
• Adolescent development
• Different operating environments and methods in youth and special youth work
• The role of a Bachelor of Social Services in youth work
• Supporting youth participation
• Utilizing digitalization in youth work
• Ethical dimensions of youth work
• Current phenomena and specific issues in youth and special youth work.
