Objectives
The course provides you with essential information on breast imaging and ultrasound examinations, as well as the procedures involved in them. In clinical training, you will learn to position the most common mammography imaging projections and act aseptically during procedures. You will gain knowledge in quality control and work on radiation safety practices.
After completing the course, the student:
• knows the principles of mammography examinations and procedures
• knows the structure and function of mammography equipment and auxiliary equipment and quality assurance
• can assess mammographic image quality
• discerns normal and pathological conditions of breasts
• knows the legislation concerning safe medical use of ionizing radiation in mammography and procedures
• knows the principles of self-examination and palpation of breasts
• can position the most common mammography projections with a training patient in learning situations
• knows the most common ultrasound examinations and procedures
• can act aseptically, ergonomically and ethically
