Objectives
The aim of the course is to provide a general understanding of environmentally friendly electric vehicles and various hybrid vehicles, as well as the power transmission structures used in them. The course also covers the changes in the vehicle fleet brought about by electrified transportation and the future trends in the industry's technology.
Upon completing the course, the student will:
• Understand the fundamentals of electric power transmission systems, their components, and their applications.
• Understand the basics of energy efficiency in different types of vehicles and work machines.
• Be able to calculate the power and energy requirements of an electric vehicle and size the corresponding components.
• Be able to apply acquired knowledge and skills in the design, aftermarket, maintenance, and servicing of vehicles and work machines.
Content
Key content of the course includes electric power transmission systems, energy storage, power controllers, electric machines, and the fundamentals of charging, maintenance, and upkeep. At the system level, the course examines the applicability of technologies in various vehicles and work machines, as well as hybrid solutions. The main goal is to achieve an understanding of the technical and economic usability of electric power transmission systems, as well as energy efficiency in various mobile applications.
