Objectives
After completing the course, the student understands the basics of operating systems, is able to configure operating system features and use command line. The course covers topics such as file systems, file structures, program installation, configuration, and the basics of using a terminal and its command line.

The student is able to
• flexibly use the functions of the operating system, modify its settings, install and configure demanding software packages,
• use the command line extensively.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student is able to
• use advanced functions of the operating system,
• modify its deeper settings (e.g. using registers or system files),
• install and configure complex software,
• write basic command-line based programs.
