Objectives

The aim of the course is to use technical and perceptual skills to observe and draw a life model.

After completing the course, the student knows the basics of human anatomy proportions and is able to make observations of gestures and composition. The student knows how to develop a personal visual language in response to the life model.

Content

Drawing directly from a life model, with a tutor on hand to provide one-to-one guidance. Composition, line and values. Various techniques like chalk, pencil and ink.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student understands the basics of human anatomy proportions and can observe the gesture.
The student knows how to develop a personal visual language in response to the life model. The
student participates in the working with course tasks and feedback.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

The student outlines the basics of human anatomy proportions and can observe the gesture. The
student knows how to develop a personal visual language in response to the life model and apply
these skills well in their own drawings. The student works actively as a member of a group and is
able to receive and give feedback.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to use the technical and perceptual skills to observe and draw a life model. The
student is able to analyze the basics of human anatomy, proportions and gestures. The student
knows how to develop a personal visual language in response to the life model and apply these skills
creatively in their own artworks. The student works highly motivated as a member of a group and is
able to receive and give feedback.
