Objectives

The course prepares the students to join design projects in the interactive media field.

After completing the course, the student:
• Understands the basics of the role of the designer in the interactive media field
• Knows the common design practices and how to utilize information in concepts
• Can communicate in a design team and with the clients
• Collaborates in an international student team

Content

Design research and practices, e.g. information literacy, ideation and problem-solving.
Good practices: Collaborative work and project work. Basics of sustainable design and accessibility
Communication in interactive media

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student Is able to identify and define some methods in the digital design field. Knows how to interact in discussions related to the field on a basic level and how to give and receive feedback. The student can use some design research techniques, they participate in the work and reporting.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

The student outlines the main common principles of design and follows the good practices. The student selects the necessary method for the activity. Demonstrates a good ability to interact in discussions related to the field and is good at giving and receiving feedback. The student works actively as a member of a group and can report their work well.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student can look for different design methods and try out new solutions. Demonstrates an excellent ability to interact in discussions related to the field and is excellent at giving and receiving feedback. The student is highly motivated and takes committed responsibility for their own and the group's performance and reporting.
