Community-based Artwork is the practice of art based in and generated in a community setting.
In the course:
• Students create artistic activity within a community setting
• Works from this genre can use any media
• The activity is characterized by interaction or dialogue with the community
The course includes a main task, which is an artwork or a workshop made in a community, with elderly people. You can choose the technique freely for example it could be stop motion animation, painting, drawing, photography, video etc..
Each student should also make a digital zines about the community project ideas and about the project you will plan and implement.
Tasks in the course
1. The Community-based Artwork implementation for Kuuselakeskus (idea, plan, leading the process, documentation, and report) Working in teams with 3-4 students.
2. 3 community projects ideas (community choice is free)
3. Zines:
- the community project and implementation in Kuuselakeskus, work with team
- the community project idea and plan, each student makes their own
