Objectives (course unit)
InnoEvent is an intensive week during which students of different fields innovate and create solutions to real cases given by a variety of companies and organizations. Teachers, professionals and company representatives guide the innovation project with variety of methods and tools. At the end of the week every team presents their solution to judge panel who selects the best ideas. Winners are awarded in a gala.
During the InnoEvent student
- can initiate an innovation prosess and develop ideas to solution
- can take up challenges and act as a team player in a multidisciplie team
- learns to combine different approaches and make the most of limited resources
- can sell ideas to customers (pitching)
Content (course unit)
Day 1: Team building and assigments
- Kick off for the team work: roles and introductions
- Orientation to the program and innovation process
- Receiving the assignment
Day 2: Data collection and scoping the problem
- Observations and other data collection metho´ds
- Understanding and scoping the problem team is solving
- Initiation of the ideation
Day 3: Developing the solutions
- Theming the ideas
- Alternative solutions
- Potential solution presentation
- Taking the most promising one to further development
Day 4: Building the prototype and presentation
- Finalizing the solution
- Presentation

- Practicing the presentation
Day 5: Presenting the outcomes
- Finalizing the solution and pitching to the judges
- Receive feedback: reflect and learn from both success and failure
- Awards gala and ceremony
Assessment criteria, pass/fail (course unit)
Approved when a student is involved and committed in each InnoEvent-day in an active manner; e.g. can independently and as a member of the team study the assignment, ask additional questions. He/ She is capable of providing ideas, seek for solutions, present her ow suggestions and give/ receive feedback. A student can independently describe the compleated innovation process, its phases and outcome.
Failed if a student is missing in more than one day out of five without replacing the hours with agreed manner (e.g. covering the work by independent working hours). Fail may occure if student cannot descibe what was done during the innovation process, its phases, methods and outcome.
