Objectives (course unit)

The student is able to examine, observe and interpret their living environment and visual image culture critically. The student is able to convey observations and interpretations through photographing. Student is able to collaborate in an international student team.

Content (course unit)

The student learns the basic digital technology of photography and creates a photographic work of art. Sustainable development.

WEEK 22

THU 31.5. (Class 20061)

• Start of the course: aim, content, timetable, evaluation criteria
• Borrowing DSLR-cameras
• Control of the DSLR-camera

Lunch break

• A basic photo technique and expression lecture (shortly)
• Brief for a photo exercise 1 (Portrait: self-portrait or milieu portrait of a friend, concentrate to an ambient light and a depth of field)
• Brief for a photo exercise 2: Sketch for an Art Work (Take two images and give a title to your art work – we will print images in size ca. 30x40 cm)

WEEK 23

MON 4.6. (Class 40014 and 40015)

• Downloading files
• Photoshop application (and Bridge shortly)
• Uploading small jpeg files into a Tabula implementation
• Quickly checking / some comments of portraits (= exercise 1)
• Large format printing (basics on a color management)

WED 6.6. (Class 20053 / printing classroom)

• Tutor meeting with the teacher - optional, book your time
• Group A: Printing with technician Petri Kiviniemi

THU 7.6. (Class 20061 and 20053 / printing classroom)

• Feedback for group A (in 20061) – opponent method
• Group B: Printing with technician Petri Kiviniemi
