Objectives (course unit)
The students acquire a comprehensive understanding of political communication and can discuss the changing role of the media in politics. Students are familiar with recent academic literature on traditional mass media and the social media. Students understand the media as a power-wielder in relation to other societal institutions. Students can analyse the role of communication in electoral campaigning and in politics in general.

The changing role of the media in political decision-making; the influence of media on other societal institutions; communication in electoral campaigns; special features of political discourse and rhetoric.
