Objectives (course unit)

The student • is familiar with different scales and their characteristic statistical numbers and will be able to determine them on the basis of data • is familiar with the basics of statistical testing, knows basic concepts related to probability and is able to apply them in probability distribution.

Content (course unit)

• Population and random sample • Scales • Statistical numbers • Concept of probability • Conditional probability and independence • Discrete and continuous probability distribution • Correlation and regression • Statistical inference

Course can be done in own space in Metropolia's Moodle environment.

Assessment methods and criteria

The course evaluation is Pass/Fail. When the student has passed all 10 modules with their exercises and the final exam. The final exam has approx. 50 multiple choice questions and lasts 180 minutes. The minimum passing score is 700/1000. If the score falls below that, the test must be repeated. The exam can be repeated 3 times!

Teaching methods

Course is 100% online (self-study) course which can be done in own pace. The course includes ten (10) Modules with exercises and a final exam.

Online in Metropolia's Moodle environment.

The Student shall do first all of ten (10) Chapters in order and then pass the Final Exam.
