Objectives (course unit)

On completion of the course, the student knows how a company can use quantitative research in order to develop its operations, and is able to design and implement a quantitative research, interpret the research results, and evaluate the reliability of the research.

Content (course unit)

This is a Moodle online course, supported by own videos, which students can complete relatively independently (and thus, can join with various professional backgrounds). The pedagogy is based on the flipped classroom method where all study materials and tasks are available in the learning environment. The teacher will be available online several times during the course for discussion and students’ questions. • Quantitative research process • Basic concepts of quantitative research • Selecting samples • Collecting data using questionnaires • Preparation of the research data • Data analysis: descriptive and inferential statistics • Statistical testing Assignments outline: students complete the course by solving problems; no exams. Moodle automatically evaluates the answers.

Prerequisites (course unit)

Completed higher education degree (Bachelor level)

Location and time

The course is a non-stop online course. You can do it independently and at your own pace in Moodle learning environment. However, it's important to allocate sufficient time for independent study. For a 5-credit course, the estimated workload is 135 hours. Course credits are recorded in the study register only 3.11. - 9.11.2025 and 19. - 25.1.2026. To enhance learning, there is a virtual Q&A session once a month where the teacher is available. Any topic related to the course can be discussed there. Participation in virtual Q&A sessions is not compulsory.

Exam schedules

The exam can be taken at the end of October or the beginning of January, with exact dates to be announced later. Students can register for the exam once they achieve at least 50% of the maximum score on each set of assignments. The student can take the exam a maximum of three times (the actual exam and two retakes).

Assessment methods and criteria

The course consists of two parts: assignments to be completed in Moodle and an exam to be taken in the electronic exam system. Both parts are evaluated on a scale of 0-5, and both must receive a passing grade. The final course grade is calculated as a weighted average of the two parts, with the assignments accounting for 40% and the exam 60% (course grade = 0.4 x assignment grade + 0.6 x exam grade). The grades for both the exam and the assignments are determined based on the ratio of the total points received by the student to the maximum points available in each section. The lower limits for grades are as follows: 50 % of total points: 1 60 % of total points: 2 70 % of total points: 3 80 % of total points: 4 90 % of total points: 5
