Objectives (course unit)
During this course the student will learn the basics of sustainability, how the aviation industry works and what kind of business models form the industry. The student will learn about the aviation ecosystem and the megatrends, history and the law, rules and regulation, airlines, air cargo, airports, ground services, air navigation service providers and other stakeholders.

Basics of sustainability, business analysis tools, ecosystem and megatreds. Aviation history and the law, rules and regulation. Airlines, air cargo, airports, ground services, air navigation service providers and other stakeholders.
Prerequisites (course unit)
No previous knowledge about the aviation needed.

Teaching methods
The module consists of the introduction to the sustainability themes, and analysis of the operational environment and the stakeholders within the aviation industry. Basics of macro and microeconomics, ecosystem and megatrends are discussed. This is ia virtual course. All the lectures and other materials can be found in the course Moodle page. The same applies to the assignments. More details can be found at the course Moodle page. If students have acquired the required competence in previous work tasks, recreational activities or in other studies, they can show the competence with a demonstration and progress faster through their studies. More information can be asked from the instructor.

Student workload
The module consists of the analysis of the operational environment and the stakeholders within the aviation industry, Basics of macro and microeconomics are discussed as well as the ecosystem and the megatrends. Sustainability aspect goes through the sessions. The assignments and the schedule will be announced in Moodle.
Content scheduling
The course will be open in Moodle in the beginning of the 3rd period and close at the end of 4rd period. During that time the student can study the topics and complete the assignments whenever he/she wants to. More information for the students about the sessions and the assignments will be announced in Moodle.
