Objectives (course unit)
Students willl - identify business development needs by anticipating changes in the market and the industry. - understand how to plan, resource and manage business development. - understand customer-oriented development and service testing practices. - be familiar with public and private financing. - be capable of building cooperation and maintaining networks and partnerships.

Teaching methods
Business Development in Creative Industries 10 cr operates as a training program for entrepreneurs in the creative industries to enhance their own business and business development. The training program includes the following methods: - Online coaching sessions - Group discussions and workshop-style activities - Independent study and exercises - Small group mentoring.

Student workload
The training program, equivalent to 10 ECTS credits, corresponds to approximately 270 hours of group and independent work (25hrs online training and 245hrs development work for participant's own company). The program's contents and tasks are linked to the development of the participant's own or represented company, facilitating learning through development activities.

Creve training program will be implemented in 2024-2025 with a new theme: Creative Content & Licensing! The program's contents have been designed in collaboration with key Finnish stakeholders in the field of creative content licensing. Around the program, a range of services has been gathered from these organizations to support the program content. The Creative Content & Licensing training program is intended for entrepreneurs producing creative content who have: - an interest in innovative international business through branding and licensing content, - a need to grasp the basics of licensing business, and - motivation for learning and development. The program is also suitable for entrepreneurs interested in broking operations in creative industries who want to strengthen their licensing skills through practical examples and development tasks. The coaching program is set at level 3, Developer. A prerequisite for the course is basic knowledge of entrepreneurship, business, innovation, projects, finance, and funding. Degree students: please note that this course is aimed at those working as entrepreneurs. You can participate in the final stages of your studies in the 3rd-4th year. For those interested in entrepreneurship but without their own business yet, suitable courses are Business Operations in a Changing World of Work and Sustainable and Responsible Business.
