Objectives (course unit)

The student extends their knowledge of the basic structures and vocabulary of the target language. The student deepens their knowledge of the culture and customs of the language area. CERF level: starting level A1 - target level A2 on the European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Content (course unit)

Pronunciation review, oral and written communication in everyday situations (e.g. talking about family, the weather, shopping and eating out, past events and writing an email). Key grammatical structures (e.g. be verbs with adjectives, comparative and superlative adjectives, verbs that change vowel, reflexive verbs, the past perfect and hace que construction, gustar/encantar/interesar and doler verbs, possessive pronouns and dative forms of personal pronouns). Language learning strategies.

Spanish in English 1 (V200BJ44), Espanja 1 (V200BJ41) or equivalent (CEFR level A1).

Assessment methods and criteria

Written exam on Moodle 9 December (65 points) Oral presentation (video) in November/December (15 points) Before the written exam, you must pass all the Test Your Skills tasks on Moodle.

We use MOODLE in SAMK. Our online meetings are in HILL Webex (9 obligatory and 3 voluntary online lessons) 75% attendance is required during the obligatory (9) online contact lessons.

Prerequisites: Spanish 1 (5 ECTS) or equivalent Topics: Family, hobbies, weather, restaurants, shopping, airport and emails, etc. Grammar: ser/ estar with the adjective, irregular verbs, reflexive verbs, present perfect, hace que, verbs gustar/encantar/interesar/doler, object pronouns, demonstrative pronouns, possessive adjectives, comparatives, and superlatives.
