Objectives (course unit)
The student understands the relevance of nature to wellbeing of people, knows the basic theories and knows how to make good use of welfare effects of nature in their own actions. The student is able to evaluate their own relationship with nature, to respect different kinds of relationships with nature and support the strengthening of these in professional and goal-oriented way. The student understands the relevance of guidance in Green Care. The student knows the determining factors and quality criteria of Green Care activities, is able to analyze the special features of Green Care and distinguish it from other activities. The student is able to evaluate the meaning and effects of Green Care to the society and is familiar with the operational field of Green Care in Finland and in other key countries of the field.

How nature affects us: welfare effects and relationship with nature, guidance in Green Care Green Care methods and activities: terms and concepts, operational environment, quality criteria

Assessment methods and criteria
The tasks required in the course are assessed on a scale approved - rejected. All tasks must be approved. Task-specific criteria are mentioned in Moodle in connection with the assignment. There is no exam in the course.

Teaching methods
The study is in Finnish. The study is conducted online in the Moodle learning environment. The study is carried out independently at your own pace during the implementation period, considering the assignment dates. The study does not include joint meetings or pair or group work. The study includes online discussions and peer-to-peer learning. The student familiarizes themselves with the theoretical material and completes online assignments to the given instructions. The study requires independent work and scheduling.

Student workload
The workload of the study is designed so that one credit corresponds to an average of 27 hours of student work to achieve the learning objectives. The actual time required varies individually, e.g., due to prior knowledge. The 5 ECTS course corresponds to an average of 135h, which is divided into studying theory and information retrieval and doing the assignments of the course.

Kurssilla opit perusteet Green Care -toiminnasta ja siitä, miten luonto meihin vaikuttaa. Luonnon hyvinvointivaikutuksia tavoitteellisesti ja ammatillisesti hyödyntävä Green Care sopii täydentämään osaamista ja amk-opintoja eri aloilta, esimerkiksi osana luonnonvara-, sosiaali- ja terveys- tai liiketoiminta-alan tutkintoa, sekä avoimen AMK:n kautta työelämän tarpeisiin.
