Objectives (course unit)

The student masters the concept of the derivative and integrals of a function of one variable. The student is able to apply differential and integral calculus to common situations encountered in technical studies and engineering tasks. The student knows how to use technical aids with calculations in solving problems.

Content (course unit)

Derivative -definition of derivative -differentiation of elementary functions -equation of tangent -Instantaneous growth -extreme value applications -applications of kinematics -error assessment Integral -definitions of integrals -integration of elementary functions -initial value problems -determining area and volume -determining the center of gravity -applications of kinematics

Prerequisites (course unit)

Algebra and Trigonometry

Exam schedules

Described in the course Moodle.

Assessment methods and criteria

Course evaluation consists of many different areas. These sub-areas, their scores and grade criteria can be viewed in Moodle.

Assessment scale

1-5

Teaching methods

Independent study in moodle. Teacher support is available throughout the course.

Learning materials

All the necessary study material is in moodle.

Further information

The course's Moodle contains versatile and clear material for independent study. The course material covers clear videos and lecture slides on each topic. There are many practice tasks and there is a model solution for each task. You can check your own competence after studying each of the six themes with competence tests, which also accumulate the points needed for the evaluation.
