Imagine being able to monitor your client’s movements in real time or retrospectively, tailor rehabilitation programs based on precise data, and boost motivation through more personalized feedback. Wearable technology makes this possible—and its development is faster than ever. In this course, you’ll learn how smart sensors and activity trackers, for example, can benefit physiotherapy and occupational therapy practices. Although the course is delivered online, the content is hands-on: you’ll get to use your own smartphone and apply what you’ve learned in practice. Join us to explore how wearable technology can open new possibilities in rehabilitation—for you and your clients.

Content (course unit)

The Use of Wearable Technology in Therapy Professions This course provides foundational knowledge on the applications of wearable technology in physiotherapy and occupational therapy. It covers the basics of wearable technology, its potential uses, and its impact on client rehabilitation. You will gain an understanding of various wearable devices and learn to evaluate their benefits and challenges in therapeutic work. Assessment methods and criteria

Tavoite 1: Ymmärtää puettavan teknologian perusteet Hyväksytty: Opiskelija osoittaa selkeää ymmärrystä puettavan teknologian peruskäsitteistä ja toimintaperiaatteista. Essee on suoritettu ja sisältää kattavan kuvauksen teknologian historiasta ja kehityksestä. Hylätty: Opiskelija ei ole suorittanut esseetä tai essee osoittaa puutteellista ymmärrystä puettavan teknologian perusteista. Tavoite 2: Tunnistaa sovelluskohteet Hyväksytty: Opiskelija pystyy tunnistamaan ja kuvaamaan puettavan teknologian sovelluskohteita fysioterapiassa ja toimintaterapiassa. Case study -analyysi on suoritettu ja sisältää selkeät esimerkit käyttömahdollisuuksista. Hylätty: Opiskelija ei ole suorittanut case study -analyysiä tai analyysi on puutteellinen. Tavoite 3: Arvioida teknologian vaikutuksia Hyväksytty: Opiskelija osaa arvioida puettavan teknologian vaikutuksia potilaan hoitoon ja kuntoutukseen. Käytännön harjoitusten raportti osoittaa kykyä arvioida teknologian vaikutuksia. Hylätty: Opiskelija ei ole suorittanut raporttia tai raportti osoittaa puutteellista arviointikykyä
