Objectives (course unit)

The student knows the methods, working methods and tools of systematic product development and understands the importance of creativity and ideation in product development. The student understands the principles of sustainable development in product design and company operations. Understands the basics and significance of conception, configuration, product structure, industrial design, ergonomics and design methods in product development. Can plan and supervise a product development project. Knows the possibilities of protecting the results of product development work. Understands the requirements of the Machinery Directive for design work and is able to design safe and user-friendly equipment and structures.

Content (course unit)

Technical creativity and product ideas. Product development process: Product development from idea to finished product and its marketing. Systematic product development. Structural design. Conceptualization. Testing. Prototyping (including Rapid prototyping) and testing. Product development project control and supervision. Protecting the results of product development work. Industrial design. Ergonomics. Quality of product development work. DFM, DFA, DFX.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

The student identifies the methods, working methods and tools of systematic product development and understands the importance of creativity and ideation in product development. Takes responsibility for their own performance.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

The student knows the main operating models and processes of product development and is able to use them independently. The student recognizes the requirements of the Machinery Directive for design work. Takes responsibility and commits not only to his own activities but also to the activities of the group.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

The student has a good command of all aspects of the product development process and is able to apply their skills in various product development tasks when developing safe and user-friendly equipment and structures. The student is able to take into account the requirements of the Machinery Directive for design work. Acts responsibly and with commitment, taking into account the requirements and needs of the community and its own industry.
