Fluoroscopy and Angiography Examinations and Procedures (4cr)

Objectives (course unit)

This course provides essential knowledge of contrast medium examinations and interventions. In course, we will study most common contrast medium examinations and interventions, radiotion perotection in interventional radiology and asepsis working.

After completing the course, the student:
• knows the structure and function of fluoroscopy (C-arm) and auxiliary equipment
• knows the most common fluoroscopy and angiography examinations and procedures carried out to adults or children
• knows the principles of safe working in fluoroscopy, angiography and procedures
• knows how to guide patients in fluoroscopy and angiography and procedures
• discerns the findings discovered in fluoroscopy, angiography and procedures
• knows the medicine and contrast agent used in fluoroscopy, angiography and procedures, their influence mechanism as well as their side effects
• knows how to act in case of emergency
• in basic clinical training, can use instruments used in fluoroscopy and angiography and can act aseptically

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

• can name the principles of radiation safe working in fluoroscopy examinations and radiological procedures
• can name concepts related to fluoroscopy and angiography examinations and other radiological procedures
• can name the basics of aseptic working
• can put on the protective clothing in the basic clinical training and can use equipment directed
• can count the medical calculations correctly

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

• can explain the principles of radiation safe working in fluoroscopy examinations and radiological procedures
• can explain the basics of aseptic working
• can explain the process of fluoroscopy and angiography examinations and procedures and can identify the basic equipment
• can put on the protective clothing in the basic clinical training and can use equipment nearly independently
• can count the medical calculations correctly

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

• can reasonably explain the principles of radiation safe working in fluoroscopy examinations and radiological procedures and evaluate as well as apply working methods
• can reasonably explain the process of angiography examinations and radiological procedures and can use the concepts correctly
• can apply his/her knowledge of the basics of aseptic working
• can identify the basic equipment and can explain restrictions and possibilities related to their use
• can put on the protective clothing in the basic clinical training and can use equipment correctly
• can count the medical calculations correctly

Lääkelaskujen suoritus:
Lääkelaskujen tentti ja mahdollisesti tarvittavat uusinnat tulee suorittaa ilmoitettuna ajanjaksona. Seuraava mahdollisuus suorittaa niitä on seuraavan ryhmän mukana.

Teaching methods

Luennot, itsenäinen työskentely, harjoitukset. Välikokeet ja Examtentti.

Laiteopin ja radiologian tunneilla 100% läsnäolovaatimus.
Harjoitustunneilla 100% läsnäolo. Poissaolo korvataan seuraavan ryhmän tunnilla.

Varjoainetutkimusten ja toimenpiteiden tunneilta opettaja jakaa sähköisesti tiivistelmät luennoista, jotka eivät ole koko luento. Opiskelijan tulee tehdä muistiinpanoja luennoilla. Jos opiskelija on pois luennolta, selvittää hän käsitellyt asiat ryhmäläisiltä.

Harjoitustunneille opiskelijan tulee saapua ajoissa. Tuntien alussa jaetaan työparit ja työpisteet, jonka jälkeen ei voi enää liittyä tunnille.

Lääkelaskut suoritetaan itsenäisesti kertaamalla laskuja ja suorittamalla Examissa tentti.

Further information

Harjoitustunneilla tulee olla sairaalatyöskentelyyn sopiva hoitajan työpuku ja työkengät. Ilman näitä ei voi osallistua harjoitustunneille.

Harjoitustunteja varten vaatteet vaihdetaan pukuhuoneissa ja tavarat jätetään pukuhuoneiden lokerikkoihin. Lokerikkoihin opiskelija tarvitsee oman lukon. Harjoitusluokassa ei ole tilaa säilyttää tavaroita.

Jos opiskelija pistää harjoitustunneilla harjoitusneulalla tai muulla särmäisellä itseään, tulee hänen ilmoittaa asiasta opettajalle. Kontaminopitunut väline hävitetään. Harjoitustunneilla käytettävät särmäiset eivät ole steriilejä, vaan verrattavissa askarteluvälineisiin.
