Objectives (course unit)
The student is familiar with the basic structures of tonal music, the fundamental concepts of voice leading, and principles, and can apply these when writing music.

Foundations of Tonal Chord Progressions:
• Principles of chord selection and chord progression
• Principles of voice leading
• Exercises
• Music examples
• Literature
Prerequisites (course unit)
Competence corresponding to the extensive curriculum of Finnish music institute.
Assessment criteria, pass/fail (course unit)
The student is familiar with the principles of tonal voice leading and typical chord progressions, and can compose chord progressions accordingly.
