Orchestra Conducting 4 (15 cr)

Objectives (course unit)

Student shows development in their work as an artistic director of an orchestra. He/she is able to interpret the repertoire artisticly independently and masters the skills in conducting technique, sound and analysis of demanding scores of different styles.

Student is able to work responsibly and lead the artistic development of an orchestra using appropriate training methods. He/she is able to me a part of a professional team.

Content (course unit)

Minimum of 45 min. performance with an orchestra approved by TAMK. The repertoire consists of different styles, a piece with a soloist and an arrangement made by the student.The concert program must include a minimum of one piece by a female composer.

Conducting technique: technically skilled, expressive and communicative gestures.
Rehearsing methods: Different rehearsing approaches, tuning chords, shaping sound orchestal psychology and pedagogy.
Analysis of different styles of scores and playing scores.
Rehearsing and conducting an orchestra. Arranging for orchestra.

Studying a wide range of repertoire and mastering it technically and artisticly. Concert performance.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

Opiskelija osaa ohjelmiston teknisesti. Hän osaa harjoittaa kokoonpanoa tarkoituksenmukaisesti.
Opiskelija kykenee esittämään vaadittavan ammattitason ohjelmiston. Taiteellinen ja tekninen hallinta on tyydyttävää. Musiikillisten kokonaisuuksien hallinta on heikkoa.

Opiskelija hallitsee ohjelman teknisesti ja taiteellisesti sekä tuo esiin eri tyylisuuntien erityispiirteitä. Hän osaa harjoittaa kokoonpanoa loogisesti ja tehokkaasti reagoimalla kuulemiinsa asiohin. Opiskelijan musiikillisten kokonaisuuksien hallinta on hyvä.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

Opiskelija hallitsee ohjelman teknisesti ja taiteellisesti sekä tuo esiin eri tyylisuuntien erityispiirteitä. Hän osaa harjoittaa kokoonpanoa loogisesti ja tehokkaasti reagoimalla kuulemiinsa asiohin. Opiskelijan musiikillisten kokonaisuuksien hallinta on hyvä. Opiskelija osoittaa ohjelman erinomaisen teknisen hallinnan lisäksi erityistä taiteellista ja persoonallista ilmaisuvoimaa. Opiskelija tuo esiin erityisen vakuuttavasti eri tyylisuuntien ominaispiirteitä. Opiskelija on omaksunut rikkaan sointikulttuurin sekä kykenee luomaan hallittuja musiikillisia muotokokonaisuuksia. Opiskelija tulkitsee musiikkia taiteellisena johtajana.
