Objectives (course unit)
After completing the course, the teacher student is able to
- assess their competencies as a vocational teacher and prepare a personal study plan to achieve the learning outcomes
- advance their own learning based on their goals
- demonstrate their competencies with a portfolio
- advance their own continuous learning and prepare a development plan for competencies during their career.
Content (course unit)
During the course, we will seek answers to the following questions:
- How do you grow into a teacher?
- How do you assess and document your own competencies?
- How do you develop your competencies when working as a teacher?
Assessment criteria, pass/fail (course unit)
The student passes the course if they have demonstrated competencies described in the learning outcomes. If the student has not achieved the learning outcomes or supplemented their competencies in the manner agreed on, they will fail the course. The grounds for the assessment criteria are described in the document ‘Pedagogical principles in professional teacher education’. The assessment criteria are derived from the learning outcomes presented in the implementation plan for the course.
Location and time
Personal HOPS discussion times are agreed separately. The HOPS will be updated throughout your studies.
The portfolio is completed throughout the course of study.
25E tutor group meets monthly in the Zoom.

Teaching methods
Personal PSP discussions with the tutor take place at the beginning of the studies.
Joint online infoand guidance sessions. Teaching method: guidance, counselling and dialogue with the tutor online or by appointment in a face-to-face meeting.

Student workload
1 credit corresponds to about 27 h of student work. The student will spend time participating in online tutorials and working independently.

During the course you will look for answers to the following questions:
How does it happen to become a teacher? How do you assess and document your competences? How are they assessed and developed in a teacher's work?

Upon completion of the course, the student teacher will be able to
- assess their competence as a professional teacher and develop a personal study plan to achieve the competence objectives
- promote their own learning according to the learning outcomes
- demonstrate their competence through a portfolio
- promote their own continuous learning and develop a career-long competence development plan.
The assessment of the course is approved when the student teacher has demonstrated the competence described in the objectives. Competences are demonstrated through the production of approved outputs: PSP and portfolio
