Objectives (course unit)

During this course, the student team together will start the operation of their own team company.

After completing the course the student will be able
- to search for information in the literature and use their network of experts to start a business.
- to build a functioning team and understand what it takes to do so.
- to work in a team and to develop the team's activities.
- to create a team organization to launch a business.

The assessment of the course is based on teamwork, where the whole team together demonstrates its skills in a practical demonstration test. The demonstration test is assessed by the team, the team coach and the client. The assessment is based on the achievement of quantitative objectives of the team enterprise, in addition to the demonstration test. The targets are set jointly by the students and the team coach. The course is assessed by a mark (pass/fail).

Passed
Student is able to search, share and use the information in order to start a team enterprise. Student understands the requirements of being a team member. Student is capable of forming a team enterprise and develops the team enterprise by personal input and attendance according to a shared vision.

Failed
The student occasionally participates in the start-up phases of a team business. The student does not bring much new knowledge to the team enterprise. They have difficulties in self-evaluation and using peer feedback.

Location and time

Team divisions 17.3.
Pajas according to the distributed schedule from 18.3. to 16.5. and later, if you agree with the team and the coach.
Other programme according to the needs of the team.

Exam schedules

Deadlines are mentioned on Teams. The retakes/raises will be agreed on a case-by-case basis. All 1st year studies must be completed by 31.7.2025 in order to continue in August 2025.

Assessment methods and criteria

1. Portfolio (personal): reflective text, motorola, lesson book, 5 books and timesheet
2. Team business documents: set-up documents, rules, team learning contract, sales day project plan and report, team business competition input and service design assignments
3. Evaluation from coaches, see separate criteria in TG-Teams.

The grade for the Starting a Team Enterprise course requires that the above deliverables are accepted.

Teaching methods

At Proakatemia, we learn by working together. It involves reading and learning from a wide range of material, combining knowledge with your own thinking and experience, and sharing it in written or oral form in a variety of interactions.

Completion alternatives

Passing the course requires learning with the team. Exceptions for timing etc. must be discussed in advance with the coaches and/or the team.

Practical training and working life cooperation

This course includes a customer project.
